La ministre des Affaires étrangères du Canada, Mélanie Joly a annoncé le lundi 25 septembre 2023 la nomination des nouveaux ambassadeurs en Arménie et en République Démocratique du Congo.

L’ambassade du Canada en République Démocratique du Congo aceuille cette fois-ci une femme au poste d’ambassadrice en remplacement de Benoît- Pierre Laramée qui a été nommé en 2021.

Il s’agit de madame Maryse Guilbeault, titulaire d’un baccalauréat avec spécialisation en allemand à l’Université McGill de Montréal en 1986.

La nouvelle ambassadrice auprès de la RDC a intégré les affaires étrangères et du Commerce International du Canada en 1993 et a travaillé à la Direction des Affectations aux Ressources Humaines.

En 30 ans de carrière, Maryse Guilbeault
a travaillé dans l’administration centrale au sein des directions chargées des relations avec le Mexique, l’Amérique du Sud et Centrale ainsi que les Caraïbes.
Elle s’est occupée, de ce fait des plusieurs ambassades en Amérique Centrale et Latine, notamment au Salvador, Chili, Pérou et Guatemala de 2015 à 2019; Et a récemment occupée le poste de Directrice des évènements officiels et des Services de Gestion au bureau du protocole du Canada.

Pour rappel, la RDC est représentée au Canada par son ambassade implantée à Ottawa, ouvert en 1965. À la même date l’ambassade de Canada ouvre ses portes à Kinshasa.
Le tout premier ambassadeur canadien à été accrédité en RDC en 1962.

Le Canada est représenté en RDC par son ambassade et y intervient par son programme d’aide internationale et de son soutien humanitaire, en étroite collaboration avec la société civile et ses partenaires internationaux, et contribue aux efforts nationaux et internationaux visant à assurer la stabilisation et la consolidation d’une paix durable, ainsi que la protection des populations civiles, notamment les enfants, contre les violences et les violations des droits de la personne.
