FOOTBALL : MOTSEPE RECONDUIT À LA TÊTE DE LA CAF

Rien n’a bougé à la tête la plus grande instance africaine de football, à l’issue des dernières élections. Patrice Motsepe, président sortant et seul candidat à l’élection, a été réélu par acclamation à la tête de la Confédération africaine de football lors de l’assemblée générale extraordinaire tenue au Caire.

Il entame ainsi un second mandat de quatre ans, couvrant la période 2025-2029. Par ailleurs, Samuel Eto’o, président de la Fédération camerounaise de football, a été élu au Comité exécutif de la CAF. Cette élection intervient après que le Tribunal arbitral du sport (TAS) a levé les sanctions qui lui avaient été imposées, permettant ainsi sa candidature.

Patrice Motsepe est à la tête de la
Confédération Africaine de Football depuis 2021. Il a été élu président le 12 mars 2021 après un accord entre les différents candidats. Son premier mandat court donc de 2021 à 2025, et il vient d’être réélu pour un second mandat jusqu’en 2029.

D’autres membres ont également été élus au Comité exécutif, notamment Mustapha Ishola Raji du Liberia, Bestine Kazadi Ditabala de la République démocratique du Congo, Wallace Karia de la Tanzanie, Kurt Simeon-Okraku du Ghana et Sadi Walid de l’Algérie.

Successeur d’Ahmad Ahmad pour son premier mandat, Motsepe aura réalisé de belles choses, avec notamment les éditions des Coupes d’Afrique 2021 au Cameroun, et 2023 en Côte d’Ivoire en tête de gondole.

Avec la CAN 2025 au Maroc et la CAN 2027 en trio (Kenya-Ouganda-Tanzanie), Motsepe et la CAF auront l’opportunité de consolider cette dynamique et d’élever encore le niveau du football africain.
